How to Calibrate Chime VolumeUpdated 5 months ago
ABOUT THE CHIME
Arc’s chime is a percussive instrument that may require tuning. How do you know if your chime needs calibration? If the alarm is chiming but you don’t hear any sound, or if the sound is extremely faint, the chime likely needs recalibration. Or, maybe you just want a louder chime? Chime calibration can help with that too!
Please note - Chime calibration adjusts the softest, beginning part of the chime sequence. Arc's chime gradually increases in both cadence and volume over the course of 45 seconds.

CALIBRATION THE CHIME
1. Enter Chime Calibration Mode
Press and hold the Brightness Knob for 10 seconds. The Digital Display will show a volume icon and a number.
2. Adjust the Chime Volume
Rotate the front Alarm Knob to calibrate. Test different levels until the chime sounds clear and is at your preferred volume.
Calibration Note: The chime can be calibrated from -4 to +4, indicating how powerfully the chime is struck relative to the standard setting (+0). Due to the nature of percussive instruments, chime volume may vary slightly.
3. Save and Exit
Press and hold the front Alarm Knob for 10 seconds until a checkmark appears. To exit without recalibrating, press any button to cancel and exit.
Your chime is now recalibrated!
BEFORE CALIBRATION: CHIME INFORMATION |
Quiet Chime: If your Arc arrives cold from shipping, let it warm to room temperature (above 54°F/12°C) for 2 hours before use. Cold temperatures thicken the chime's lubricated components, affecting sound quality. Once at room temperature, if you would like to tune your alarm louder or softer, follow the directions above. |
About The Chime Melody: The Arc Alarm Clock's melody is thoughtfully designed to ease you into wakefulness. It flows through three distinct phases: Phase 1 (0–14 seconds): Starts at the softest volume, to nudge you awake without startling. Phase 2 (15–45 seconds): Gradually increases sound to medium volumes, with a mix of slightly louder tones, offering a gentle progression. Phase 3 (46 seconds onward): Brings in the loudest volume more frequently, to ensure even deep sleepers are awakened. This phase lasts for 3 minutes before the alarm automatically snoozes if not turned off. |
